About us

Team

The team of the National Monitoring of Discrimination and Racism (NaDiRa) consists of researchers from the DeZIM Institute in Berlin and the nationally networked DeZIM research community. The team brings together researchers from various disciplines to ensure the multi-methodological and interdisciplinary character of NaDiRa. Dr. Cihan Sinanoglu and Prof. Dr. Zerrin Salikutluk head the NaDiRa office at the DeZIM Institute.

The story

In July 2020, the German Bundestag provided funding to set up a National Monitoring of Discrimination and Racism (NaDiRa) at the German Center for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM Institute). On 25 November 2020, the Cabinet Committee against Right-Wing Extremism and Racism, chaired by Federal Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel, adopted an additional catalog of measures (PDF, 280 KB), which includes plans to expand research on racism in Germany. Racism research is to be institutionally anchored in Germany and a structure is to be created that can be used by other organizations and institutions from academia and practice.

Scientific Advisory Board

The DeZIM Institute has established a Scientific Advisory Board for the National Discrimination and Racism Monitor (NaDiRa). Its task is to advise the NaDiRa office in order to ensure the high national and international quality of the research through regular evaluations and critical assessments.
